This was the perfect place for our very first Costa Rica adventure! The house and the property are beautiful and very well maintained, the views are amazing. It is absolutely secluded and private but still only a short distance to restaurants and beach. You can even hear the sounds of the ocean. The perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The hike to the waterfall feels like a private nature reserve.
The setup of the house is perfect for a family with older children or teenagers because the lower part is seperated from the upper part by outdoor stairs. My boys loved that they had their own space downstairs. We saw different butterflies and birds, frogs, lizards and even a coati. In the morning and evening you can hear the howler monkeys.
We felt really well taken care of by Osa Property Management, they always offered help if we need it and were very quick to respond. Upon arrival they guided us to the house, which was superhelpful because we arrived after dark. We loved it!

This home is in a stunning setting. The only noise I heard was the big trucks way down the hill, but it was very seldom. This is truly a magical place. The road up to the house is rough and steep. The living area furniture could have been more comfortable, but we spent most of our time outside. My only negatives were no pool light or lights on stairwell to the pool. If you have kids who want to swim at night, you cant. Black dark.
No broom handy. Each night we had visitors who would leave poop on the terrace, not to mention all the bugs. I had no way to sweep our floors.
The screen in the main bathroom was torn. Easy access for any sized critter. 😋
I would book it again tomorrow! Do yourself a favor and book this home. You will never want to leave!!!

Hola Jamie! We are sorry you didn’t have a 5-star stay. In terms of a swimming pool light – there is a light and in the Guidebook it shows you exactly where the switch is located. That is also true for lighting on the stairs down to the pool – they are seen on Photos 7, 18, 20, 29, 30 (photo 30 they are easily seen), 33, Next time please reach out to the full-time Concierge Team if you have troubles finding the light switches at anytime. Same with the broom – we would have dropped one off for you – no problem. We are going to investigate the screen – sorry about that! La maison est située au milieu d’une immense forêt. Aucun vis-à-vis, calme absolu, on a l’impression d’être seuls au monde ! Le jardin exotique est magnifique et l’espace piscine extrêmement agréable. La longue terrasse avec vue également. Nous avons adoré notre séjour.
Les hôtes sont très réactifs.
Nous reviendrons avec grand plaisir !
Beautiful views and property
We stayed in the home for 7 nights in July, 2025. This property is beautiful, and the pool was so nice to relax in. There is a gorgeous view of the jungle and even the ocean in the distance. We saw several animals on the property and the landscaping is gorgeous and in full bloom. The beds were very comfortable with plenty of pillows and blankets. The couches and chairs were not that comfortable, but we made do. The management was very responsive to our questions and concerns.
A few notes:
1. It is a narrow and treacherous drive to the top through two coded gates. Make sure you have a 4-wheel drive.
2. It’s a little difficult to turn the car around at the home to head back down. It’s best to have a helper guide the driver.
3. There is not a safe in the home even though the home’s guidebook mentions it is in the closet.
4. Make sure to close the shutters, especially into the kitchen. We had a “break-in” by a local monkey who ate all of our bananas leaving the peels as evidence.

AMAZING
We really loved this house. It was so clean and had everything we needed and more. The host company was extremely helpful and very quick to respond. The pool was clean and the property was so cool. The plants and wildlife were so cool! We saw parrots and toucan, lots cool insects, coatimundi, toads, butterflies, lizards, frogs, toads, hummingbirds, and more. Great place for older kids and adults. There are a lot of stairs and the master bedroom in with the main living areas. The other bedrooms are completely separate and below the main living space you get to by stairs. This was actually really nice for our teens to have their own space. The view from the balcony was gorgeous and each night parrots would fly over as we watched the sunset. There are a lot of bathrooms and huge showers. This was a great location to be close to different parks and other things to do while still being very private. The waterfall was very pretty. You’re ready to get in the pool by the time you walk back.

I highly recommend you book this house in Costa Rica. It’s a beautiful house with amazing views. The owners take very good care of it. There is even a hike to a waterfall on the property. The pool is clean and refreshing and you are just a short drive to a stunning beach that we had all to ourselves. Plenty of wildlife to keep you entertained for days. I can’t say enough about how wonderful this place is. I didn’t do a review right away because I didn’t want others to find this gem. 4x4 or AWD vehicle recommended. Pictures don’t do this place justice, it’s better in person.

We had a blast. The house was exactly as described…
We had a blast. The house was exactly as described and more. We got to see various animals (poison dart frogs, monkeys, snakes and toucans!). The view was gorgeous and the pool area was so nice. A few things to note: the two rooms connected by jack and Jill bathroom is completely separate from the main floor, on the second floor and you need to walk outside to get to main space. The waterfall is amazing however it is not friendly for people that are not used to hiking muddy trails or steep and off the path trails. My 5 year olds and my two year old did it with me and two other adults but my kids go hiking in Costa Rica often and we did have to carry my two year old various times. It could also be because it ls rainy season so the trail was not as safe as if it was summer time. You 100% need a 4x4 to get to the property but it’s not a difficult path to drive. It’s close to the main tourist beaches like Manuel Antonio, the famous Whale tail beach, Uvita and Dominical. We had a blast!

One of the best Airbnbs I’ve stayed in. The house was very spacious, beautiful and well maintained. The highlight of the property is the hidden waterfall. Me and family throughly enjoyed the property and the waterfall. The management company was very responsive and respectful. They were very prompt in responding and guided us to the property initially. A very memorable experience. Will definitely visit again and will refer to friends and family!

Absolutely stunning property! Probably one of the most beautiful places I’ve stayed. Amazing porch with great views. The trail to the waterfall felt like your own little private rainforest. A few small hiccups but the host was quick to respond and resolve the issues. I would definitely stay here again!

Our family of five (kids 6–14) had an amazing stay at this peaceful jungle home near Matapalo. It felt like a wildlife sanctuary — we saw monkeys, toucans, poison dart frogs, coatis, and even a vine snake. One night we heard an owl calling from the forest.
The location was ideal, tucked between Manuel Antonio, Quepos, and Uvita, giving us easy access to all three while still enjoying total seclusion. We used the pool daily to cool off after outings and hiked as a family to the private waterfall on the property — a true hidden gem.
The home was clean, well-equipped, and the communication from the host was clear and helpful. Grocery shopping in Quepos was simple, and the kitchen had everything we needed.
This is a true jungle stay — not a resort — so expect some bugs and night sounds, but that’s part of the charm. We’d absolutely stay here again!

We stayed at three different places during our trip to Costa Rica. This place stand out for several reasons - the view is amazing. It’s hard to put into words. You overlook a valley and can see the ocean in the distance. The view and the mix of rustic 70s vibe of tiled, spanish style, is memorable. Great balcony overlooking the valley. Can easily accommodate 6 or more people. It’s simple and not modern. The kitchen features a gas stove. The pool is amazing. And the sound of the jungle at night is impressive. You need a 4 x 4 to get here. The main floor with kitchen is spacious. The units below are connected with outdoor stairs. It’s away from the more touristy places. Which really shines

We truly enjoyed our stay at Cascada Escondida. This was our favorite Airbnb of our Costa Rica visit. Osa Property management's communication was great prior and during our visit. This was such a unique stay due to the secluded location along with a trail to a waterfall on property. You will definitely need 4x4 to access this property. It was well suited for our group of 4 adults and 4 children. They kids loved the pool and outdoor shower. Spectacular views from the balcony while sipping coffee or enjoying a meal. We really hope to make it back here.

The view from the home is amazing! The weather was not cooperative so we were not able to use the pool but we did utilize the outdoor shower after an all day waterfall tour. The outdoor shower was amazing.
As others have mentioned, there is no indoor staircase. Given the weather we experienced, we just gathered in the main room upstairs most of the time to minimize trips up and down in the rain. It was not an issue.
We did have several questions during our stay and OSA Property Management was VERY responsive.

Berghang mit einem schönen Weitblick. Zur Anreise ist unbedingt ein 4x4 notwendig. Durch die abgeschiedene Lage hat man zwar ein sehr privates Erlebnis, dennoch überlegt man sich zweimal, ob man das Haus tatsächlich verlässt. Bis auf die fehlende Geschirrspülmaschine war alles wie beschrieben. Auch die Kommunikation war stets sehr freundlich und kleinere Mängel wurden unmittelbar behoben. Für Ruhesuchende ein idealer Ort. Sowohl Pool als auch der hauseigene Wasserfall bieten eine tolle Erfrischung. Dennoch sollte man gut zu Fuß sein, um die vielen Treppen zu bewältigen.

We fell in love with this place. If appropriate for you, 100% book it! Before you book please be sure you meet the following criteria: 1) You must have a 4x4 vehicle. 2) You must be comfortable climbing uneven stairs. 3) Especially if traveling with children, you must understand the layout. The main level is up a set of stairs. The master bedroom, living room, laundry room, and kitchen are accessible through a keypad door. The downstairs has an awesome outside bathroom. It also has two keypad doors that lead to two bedrooms. There is a great jack-and-jill bathroom between these rooms. The downstairs doors have secondary iron doors that can be locked from the outside or inside, so people can be trapped in/out in an emergency. Just be careful. The three bedrooms have air conditioners. We had two issues one with the dryer and a gate broke locking us in. They were responsive and fixed it quickly, but we missed a tour. I can't say enough about the views, pool, waterfall, beds, showers!
