We had an amazing time at Villa Mariposa in Ojochal! Our kids loved the pool and we loved this well appointed home that had everything that we needed. The listing is on point besides the parrots in the almond tree. We were there for 10 days and never saw one but maybe it was just the time of year? I’m certainty not knocking anything off my review for not seeing a specific animal! The neighbors were super friendly and the main bedroom was super spacious and that king bed was really soft and comfy. The property management company Osa was great as well and very on top of any request and checked in with us several times during our long stay. Lots of great family memories and we hope to come back!

This place was absolutely perfect! The over look of the ocean from the pool side is such a calm setting & the sounds from nature is relaxing. The house is so beautiful and luxurious, I will be coming back here again for my next vacation. I would definitely recommend this house to friends and family!

The property was conveniently close to the beach. There was a coffeehouse opened Thursday to Sunday that was incredible right near there. There was enough towels and sheets. The property felt very secure and safe. The beach was an easy walk. However there is a fee to get onto the beach. Which can add up.
I can’t say anything negative about the house other than the water pressure for my shower was not good. The TV needs to be replaced because there’s something wrong with the speaker. Also, you can’t leave food out on the counter of the kitchen because these little teeny tiny bugs will come.
We struggled with the key to open and close the sliding door. The maintenance guy with his keys made it look so easy. But we could not lock it from the inside without struggle.
There is an upstairs to be rented and a downstairs to be rented. We stayed it downstairs.
But these are minor things to how beautiful and amazing the house was to stay in.
I would recommend this house still with all these minor issues. And I would stay inside this house again if I was to come back.

Awesome view and great location
Great for family with nearby restaurants and shops, the view to the ocean is great but also the view of the mountains and fauna in Ojochal

Gemma Escondida is for anyone looking for adventure and complete relaxation.
The house is a short and serene drive up the mountain and through a security gate. As we arrived at the Casa, I was blown away by how beautiful and spacious the house looked. Walking into the house – you are hit by the smell of the ocean & words can’t even describe how absolutely breath taking the view of the ocean and the Whale’s Tail is.
The house was beautifully built – the modernity and the openness of the house makes it feel inviting and luxurious. Thanks to the large windows surrounding the house we almost never missed out on opportunities of seeing the abundance of wildlife outside – I saw many different kinds of butterflies, toucans, frogs, and howler monkeys. Since we visited during the rain season, everyday the clouds would roll into mountains in the afternoon and the house would literally be in the clouds – which was super cool and amazing to experience.
The rooms are gorgeous and simple – the beds are handmade from local wood and were extremely comfy. Everyone in my family also got a robe on arrival as well to use for our stay! My favorite part of our room was the shower – it was a rainfall shower and had windows in the shower so I could watch the wildlife as I took a relaxing shower.
During our stay, we went on a snorkeling trip to the island Cano which is an island you can actually see from the property (if the weather is clear you will be able to spot Cano straight ahead from the pool). During the snorkeling trip we saw whales breeching and dolphins jumping from the water. We also went on the ATV tour through the mountains. Both excursions were extremely fun and I highly recommend doing both.
Overall, this trip was by far one of my favorite vacations. Being in a house that beautiful and inviting truly made me not want to leave Costa Rica. Yet, it is a perfect escape and truly is a hidden gem for anyone.
