Great place to stay and rest
We really have a great time at Quepos Villas Tranquilas. The Property Manager was really nice and detailed with our needs. Great place to stay and rest.
No title
Long story short, there was no power at the house for the entire duration. No hot tub, no refrigerator, no tv, no laundry, no lights, no nothing. The host stated that “unfortunately power outages are out of our control”. Problem is that there was power on his adjacency lot the entire time. There was also power at the little construction shack located ON the subject property by way of a makeshift powerline strung from the adjacent property. There was also power down the road and across the street at the next nearest home. We know the power was out way before we arrived because the freezer was warm and the hot tub was the same temperature of the pool. Which brings me to the next concern … we were unable to access the site on the first evening as we arrived in a 2wd vehicle (the host warned that a 4wd was necessary for access) our bad. But oddly enough a member of the management company showed up to document the type of vehicle we arrived in but refused to take us the 400 meters up the hill to the house. We were forced to check into an alternate hotel. The next morning when things dried up we made another attempt to reach the home which was easy to do when it was’t raining, but that is when we discovered no power unable to access the property on the first night. It was raining when we arrived and we showed up in a 2wd car (the host warned that a 4wd was required). Our bad but the rental company did not have a 4wd. Concerns about maintenance and security
This is a very nice property with a beautiful pool and views. However, the description of three master suites is a bit misleading. There is one master and two other bedrooms that have ensuite bathrooms but they areconsiderably smaller and darker.
The biggest concern is some maintenance issues with the property, particularly the master suite bathroom that has one sliding window panel missing and though there are decorative grills on the windows this does present a security risk. We did bring this to the attn of the mgmt co. We also had issues with the grill, resulting in a fire which required us to use a fire extinguisher. Most annoying, however, were the locks to all the exterior doors. The keys only work on a few of the doors and for even those that work, they require a fair amount of fiddling to get open. The mgmt co suggested we keep the main doors open and just lock the exterior grill which we were notcomfortable with.
Finally, we were charged $45 for early check-in even tho the house had been empty for 3 days previous so it required no extra effort on cleaning. And we picked the keys up at the mgmt companies office and let ourselves in. So what was the $45 for?
As an FYI, weve been renting houses in Costa Rica for 20+ years and understand the complexities of maintaining houses in the tropics. But renters should be forewarned about these issues.

La casa superó nuestras expectativas, hay pequeños detalles que hacen…
La casa superó nuestras expectativas, hay pequeños detalles que hacen del lugar una experiencia cómoda. Excelente para familias con niños. El único detalle negativo es que tienen una cámara que apunta a la terraza y piscina, nos pareció invasivo y nos hizo sentir como que nos estaban vigilando. Además hay vecinos muy cerca, lo único que divide las casas son plantas. Si busca un lugar privado puede que esta no sea la mejor opción.
