A great place to getaway from it all!

A great getaway!

I was privileged to stay at the Villa of Nick Halverson, as a potential investor for a home in the development. He was a gracious and wonderful host for the entire week, not to mention a chauffeur!!

Every day was an adventure!

My week included beaches and markets, wonderful dining, the turtle refuge, hiking, howler monkeys at 4 am, fresh fruit smoothies, friendly natives, ziplines, a butterfly garden, macaws in the yard, the pool outside my door, lessons from Fran the gardener, little local grocery in the nearby village and the largest TOAD I have ever seen (every night on the patio).

There was much more to do but I only had a week!!

The property was lovely, clean and well maintained. If you are looking for a bustling one-stop tourist destination, this is not your choice!

IF YOU are looking for a native-like destination, quiet and tranquil, private and peaceful WITH CONVIENENT ACCESS to the tourist offerings then book your stay soon!!! Better yet, look into having your own little Villa built-to-order right there and come back whenever you wish!! I am!!

Simply Amazing!

Simply amazing!

Our family of 5 were extremely comfortable in this home - plenty of space inside and out. The views from the home were breath taking, especially the sun setting over the ocean. We went zip lining, snorkeling at Cano Island, visited many beaches, swam in a secluded spring fed river with a waterfall, surfing - you name it, all with in 30 minutes of the Villa. The local restaurants were great, not one bad meal.

Our property manager was extremely helpful - from setting up tours to telling us the best places to buy food and gas. My favorite part was sitting in the morning with a cup of phenomenal coffee while gazing at one of the most beautiful places in the world.

We LOVED our Vacation

We LOVED our vacation at your villa!

[caption id="attachment_8426" align="alignright" width="410"]Toucan Kate Erion We photographed theses toucans from the front yard during our stay at Casa Lapa.[/caption]

One of the glorious experiences was waking up to the early morning sounds of the varied birds and the howler monkeys. It was our favorite time of the day.We could always enjoy our morning coffee watching mahogany-billed toucans in a tree on the edge of the lawn. Sometimes we saw Scarlet Macaws. Ornithologists and entomologists both would consider themselves to be in heaven here. We were entertained by the leaf-cutter ants that made an actual path in the grass as they crossed the lawn to munch the leaves of a tree.

We saw termite nests, and chartreuse butterflies. We were awed by walking sticks ten times the size of the ones we see in Minnesota! One night while we were swimming in the pool we were thrilled to see a coati emerge from the shrubbery perhaps to eat some of the impressive insects. Our week there was at the end of the rainy season. Each day there was more sunshine than the day before.

One glorious day we rode docile horses up above the villa for a spectacular close-up view of jungle plants and a distant view of the ocean. We saw house-plants like dieffenbachia and Cordyline growing wild.

We were within driving distance of a Mangrove swamp, a zip line and the Manuel Antonio National Refuge, and just a few minutes from some gorgeous ocean beaches where we saw hilarious crabs that scuttled into their burrows when we approached. The neighbors of the villa were friendly. We bought bananas from

them several times, and when we couldn't find a small portion of eggs at the BM Supermercado we were able to purchase six eggs from a helpful woman who lived on our road. Oscar, one of the villa caretakers, taught us about the Achiote plant and showed us how its seeds make red paint.

Guests who love nature and a quiet place away from raucous party-life will love your villa!

We made a terrific choice!

We decided to go south Costa Rica for our year end vacation. We're from San Jose and we all decided to skip the road to Guanacaste as this time of the year is hectic.

We made a terrific choice!

We rented this house for the final week of December and first days of January and we really had a great time here. First of all the road is in in great condition. Directions to the house are also really easy to follow. We were a group of 7 people, 3 couples and a friend. The house has 3 bedrooms, all with their private bathroom. Hot water of course and even a Jacuzzi in the master suite.Costa Rica home rental
Kitchen is in perfect condition, large refrigerator, dishwasher, stove and microwave. Laundry room with washer and dryer. Living room with Sky TV and all others with a DVD player.

The gardens and pool area are exceptional, the ocean view is amazing and we really spent our days there! With a cool breeze and birds singing everywhere.
The property is located in San Buenaventura town, close to beaches, national parks and waterfalls

Now, we really didn’t find any cons, however I must say that the house is listed for 8 people and the house has only 3 bedrooms with 3 beds (for 6 people comfortably accommodated). The other two must sleep in mattresses in the floor so you have to make some room for them in the bedrooms. Not a big issue for us.
Booking process was excellent and Nick the owner, replied every single email in no time.
If you’re thinking for a vacation in south Costa Rica, this is a great choice, you’ll have a wonderful time here!

Best Ever

My wife and I and two other couples spent a relaxing and most memorable week at Nick's place outside San Buena; and I would tell you, "Just go!" After a direct five hour flight from Minneapolis, Nick brought us to our hill-top location. It is a beautiful, well-supplied home, nestled in the enchanting Osa jungle with pool and terraces overlooking the sea. The views are gorgeous. Every morning we awoke to the songs of a teaming tropical wilderness and every night heard a choras of howling monkeys and Toucans.

Nick took great care of us. He was our tour guide. He lives in Minneapolis but was there for our week. He translated for us allowing us to visit with the kind and gentle ticos y ticas who were native Costa Rican. He employs his neCosta Rica homes for rentighbors in managing the property, and he proved himself highly informed and well-connected as our concierge. Everywhere we visited in Costa Rica's Osa region didn't disappoint.

The beaches? Exquisite, secluded. The cities and villages? Clean, safe, full of history, rarely a tourist. The waterways through the world's largest mangrove; the beautiful island just off the coast where we snorkeled and ate lunch on the beach? Absolutely awesome!

Most of our tour guides were young, well educated students who were highly articulate in English, could answer our thousand questions about their tour and their country and just worked hard to make our trip special. We dined in wonderfully simple restaurants where the food and service were spectacular. Markets were small but accommodating. Prices are similar to US but still cheaper. We ate a lot of local fish and produce including mangoes, bananas and papaya from our property.

Go! Soak in the best sun in America!

Can't wait to go back!

I had an outstanding trip. The house was clean, well-taken care of, and practically brand new. Great views from anywhere on the property: mountains on one side, ocean views on the other. Spectacular shadows from the mountains as the sun sets making for a relaxing way to end the day. This is a great place to get away from it all refresh and unwind. Although it is in the southern zone, recent infrastructure updates have made it easy to get to and get around. Golf and beaches are nearby, as are local restaurants and an awesome zip line tour. I had a great time and would go back in a heartbeat.

Super Villa

This property is amazing with spectacular jungle views! You can also see the ocean on the horizon! The home is less than a half mile of the only golf course in the area. A MUST STAY!

Casa Lapas

Costa Rica House For RentThe house was beautiful! Views were incredible. Pool and outside very well maintained - we did clean the inside to better suite our preference. Definitely need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to maneuver the road up to the house. As far as attractions, there is something for everyone. There were 6 of us (the trip was a Christmas present to our children and their spouse) - and we chose more of the adventerous route - spending time touring the rain forest/jungle, enjoying the absolutely beautiful pristine beaches, and eating at local restaurants. We were able to see animals in their natural environment in addition to the lush, beautiful plants, trees, etc. The people of the various villages were extremely kind. The grounds keeper was extremely helpful - when we were having trouble with telephones, he offered to give us his until we could get ours working. I would highly recommend the house to anyone who prefers to be away from the hastle of motels and likes to enjoy absolute beauty.

Amazing house, Amazing location!

My brother and I spent 12 days in Costa Rica staying in hostels, hotels, tents and more. In the first part of our trip we stayed in Corcovado National Park sleeping in tents and dealing with the elements. This park was amazing and the experience of a lifetime but the best part was knowing our next destination. The house in Buenaventura is an incredible place. We couldn't have asked for a more relaxing and beautiful place to stay in Costa Rica. It has all of the modern amenities you could ask for and then more. All of the information provided before staying there was accurate and more than expected. I would recommend this house to anyone going to Costa Rica. I can't wait to go back!

Didn't know what to expect, and this was exactly what we needed.

We had seen the property in the marketing material (brochure, etc), but hadn't paid much attention to the details. The plan was to stay here for a couple nights after hiking and camping in Corcovado National Park; a place to take a real shower and re-introduce ourselves to civilization.

Lo and behold, we enter the property, and atop the mountain in front of us is the house. Nothing else around it other than nature. We drove up to it and were greeted by the beautiful house, striking views of the mountains, pool, and jacuzzi. The inside of the house is very well equipped for confort, with a large master bedroom with a separate tub and shower, and two other rooms upstairs, each with private bathroom. The kitchen has all the basics to cook great meals (we brought groceries from one of the supermarkets in the nearby towns).

One nice plus was that iPod/music docs were available, so we were able to easily play music around the house and outside.

The weather was cloudy while we were there, but the temperature was perfect for swimming, and comfortably cool at night. The view was breathtaking, with clouds/fog covering the tops of nearby mountains.

One thing the property did lack was WiFi, but that's not something we missed, and it's nice to be disconnected from life for a bit. (Note: Wifi is now available at the house)

Nick provided fantastic customer services, was attentive, and helped make the whole experience seamless and memorable.

costa rica house for rentThis property was everything it was advertised to be and more. Nick sent us fantastic directions to the property. We flew into San Jose, but Nick's recommendation to fly into the local airport would save a lot of time and driving. We enjoyed the 5 hour drive through the country, and it helped us to see how the little village of San Buenas was a typical Costa Rican town. We do recommend renting a car with 4wheel drive to get up the hill from the town. Walking down into the town is safe and a wonderful way to see real life. The hike back up is a little steep. Only one of us did this several times.

We were close to beaches and the rainforests, yet safe on top of a small mountain in a beautiful house with all the amenities of modern life AND a pool in an amazing jungle setting. The groundskeepers fixed the small problems that we encountered (leaking toilet). The only problems that were unfixable were lack of hot water in the kitchen and no internet. Being unplugged was awesome, and Ponderosa, a restaurant with wifi, was only 15 minutes away. We boiled water to use for washing dishes, which was an easy fix.

There were lots of movies there, and a good TV on which to watch them. There is satellite TV if you really want to know what is going on in the world, but it was more fun not to.

The groundskeepers were a great help, but they speak no English. They took us on a hike in the jungle on one occasion, and found monkeys for us to see on another. They were also a font of information.

We went south about 45 minutes to Sierpe to catch a boat to go on a rainforest adventure in Corcovado National Park. The restaurant down there also had wifi. We also went on a mangrove tour another day from there.

The beaches are within 15-30 minutes of the house. We spent time at Playa Ventana, Ballena, and Hermosa. The water was warm and none of the beaches were crowded. All the beaches were north of San Buenas, which took us close to the Mega Super in Uvita where we bought food for cooking. When we went south to Sierpe, we bought food in Palmar Norte. The fruit and vegetable "store" there was particularly nice, and the bakery had both awesome baguettes and a sweet bread (pan con leche dulce) that we bought for Christmas breakfast.

This little piece of paradise was an amazing place to go for Christmas with our 3 grown sons, and we will without a doubt rent this house agin.

Loved Our Stay Here

My family and I stayed in this house for 9 days over Christmas 2012. The house is great, with three bedrooms each with their own bathroom. An extra mattress made it so that no one had to share a room in our family of 5. The pool is gorgeous and so well set on the property so as to allow for the stunning views to still be seen from it. The groundskeepers are some of the friendliest people we have ever met, and they even went out of their way to take us to find monkeys in the rainforest.'

The driveway is quite rough, so four wheel drive is needed (I was able to get a 2 wheel drive up it, but not easily).

All in all, an amazing stay and we will be back.

A Quiet Costa Rican Solace

Thank You ShellWonderful place. Being on the south eastern coast of the country, this area of Costa Rica is still pretty raw and undeveloped. Not going to find any high rise vacation resorts on these hills or beaches.....that is the beauty of it !!! This is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet the house has all the modern conveniences and furnishings to keep you comfortable. The grounds are well kept and the flora and fauna right on and around the property will keep you occupied as you enjoy your morning coffees on one of the terraces.

Once you leave the property you will find yourself traveling along the coast or through the hills between local villages that do support some modern amenities like a few supermarkets, restaurants, pharmacies, and gas stations....everything you need to feel comfortable.....But don't expect to find any shopping malls, jewelry boutiques, night clubs etc.... This location is truly about taking a step back and experiencing the beauty and serenity of the land, the waters, and the local people. Perhaps one of the most relaxing trips we have taken. A true solace.

The owner Nick, was very accommodating to our requests as well as informative to region and helped us plan an exciting agenda for our stay. He even did a little grocery shopping for us and had our requested items ready at the house for when we arrived. A +

We will make the trip back here again.
