Casa Arcoiris y Sonrisa Ocean View Ojochal

La casa es preciosa, tal cual que en las fotos. Todo estaba súper limpio, con una vista increíble al mar, perfecta para disfrutar en familia. La cocina tenía de todo lo que podíamos necesitar, y además el anfitrión nos dejó detalles como café, frutas y condimentos. Siempre respondió rápido y con mucha amabilidad. ¡La pasamos genial!

Great stay! Everything was clean and organized. The pool was awesome and the space was nice with am amazing view of the ocean. The other reviews are true about the neighbors.....they yelled from next door to "be quiet" when our kids were out playing on a Friday afternoon around 5. My husband went next door to talk with them and all ended up good after that. Also great location....close to all you need!

We had a few issues that were out of the property management control but they did their best to accommodate us and make sure everything was taken care of. We do appreciate the effort to make up for the inconveniences. They had fresh fruit, snacks & fresh flowers waiting for us when we arrived. The place was fantastic and the views were stunning.

Nice secluded location with amazing view. Large home, well maintained pool, perfect for our family of 5. Access need 4x4, but secure and quiet area 10-15min driving from restaurants of Ojochal. We had good communication with the propriety manager. Thanks

This property has the most amazing view, and good location to Ojochal. Spacious, and a great size for my group. Must have 4WD. Neighbors are close by, but we were not loud so had no issues as previous reviewers mentioned. We felt safe with what appeared to be 24 hour gated security into the neighborhood.

Great place to stay with family. Beautiful views and open space to relax. Strongly recommend making sure you have a big enough vehicle to get to the home. Responsive host and flexible check out time.

Beautiful home with amazing views and wildlife at your doorstep! Our stay was so peaceful and a whole family of coatimundis came right up to the house and ate from the trees! One decided he was too shy when he saw me watching so he moved to the backside of the banana tree out of my sight. Hummingbirds and parrots visited too! The kitchen had everything we need and the house was fully stocked to meet our needs. Highly recommend!!

This place is a drive, and I found the view to be worth the bumpy road and the time it takes to get up/down from town to the house… (25-30mins from Uvita), my wife on the other hand didn’t think so.
Otherwise it’s pretty much as represented. Pura vida

The home was beautiful and we lived in a dreamworld for a week. It was very comfortable and gave us a truly wonderful experience. All the necessities we available and the OSA property management team made our activities easy to arrange. We lived the home and will come back in the future!

Osa was responsive. The team was helpful before, during and after. However, we lost power in the property four times… and even though it is out of their control, for a vacation spot, it was disappointing. In addition to this problem, we weren’t allowed to make the best of our stay. Our neighbors complained of noise when my group was being the quietest and respectful. One of the neighbors literally showed up to the backyard where the pool is in the middle of the night to the tell us to lower the noise. Even though I understand that it is their neighborhood (and we want to be respectful), don’t put a house for AirBnb if the people staying can’t even use the space freely. For a vacation, this felt like we were lead on to stay in the house to sleep, and not really to use the amenities.

In addition to these, the fridge wasn’t working. It didn’t cool and it ruined our food. One of the Osa members dropped us at the house without electricity and just left us… in pitch black! Very disappointed

Casa Arcoiris y Sonrisa was absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommend staying here. Perfect location, beautiful home, great pool, fabulous restaurants nearby. It was everything and more than we expected.!

The house everything we needed and more. We planned to use it as a base while in the area but the sea views, the pool, the waterfall in the distance and the abundance of wildlife made us always rush to get back!

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Arcoiris! We decided to have the private chef come for one night as a treat and the food was amazing! We jumped into the pool every day and appreciated the view even during the rain. This was our first time to Ojochal and we will definitely be back soon. My husband really loved the design of the house too - simple, modern and beautiful! Thank you for sharing your space with us!

Great property except the lack of mentioning cameras especially around the pool area which is kinda creepy...

Great for family with nearby restaurants and shops, the view to the ocean is great but also the view of the mountains and fauna in Ojochal

My husband and I stayed at this property for a week in April. The property is beautiful and will not disappoint. The local food options are amazing and Jeremy with Osa Property Management was wonderful. A week was not long enough - planning on a return trip in the future.

Make sure you set up your travel !! A 4x4 is recommended … Stop at the grocery store before going up the mountain … if you prefer the sight seeing aspect of it I would recommend the 4 hour ride … I actually enjoyed it .. but if you don’t prefer the drive then make sure you set up to go to a closer airport …

Very nice house. Ample and comfortable. Lots of light so if you’re a light sleeper bring a mask. About 20 minutes from the highway mountain up, so really need a 4x4.

House is just like in the photos, but what the photos don't show is what you need to know.

1) There are 3 neighbors who are so close you can hear them snore.
2) The tiles at the sitting area outside are insanely slippery when wet, not kidding my kids used it as a slip n' slide and slid on their naked butts, completely frictionless and just waiting for someone to have a crazy accident.

Other than that - you get exactly what you expect from the photos. Nice view, and a quiet neighborhood if the neighboring properties haven't been rented to a noisy group.

Since mine is the first review, I will write a thorough review so others can get a better feel of this property. I will divide my review between the property itself, and the host.

The property itself is a 10 out of 10!!! It is an absolutely beautiful home, set in a lush tropical setting, with a view that you can never tire of! Based on the setting of the home, the sunrise and sunset are stunning, with lots of beautiful colors reflecting off the clouds. The ocean view is spectacular. The home is large and modern, with so much natural light and beautiful views from each room. The large windows really provide a connection with the surroundings. The home is very thoughtfully appointed with beach chairs, beach towels, comfortable pool-side furnishings, and a great kitchen. The beds are comfortable and the air conditioning and wi-fi worked great! We did have one short power outage, which is not surprising in this area, and we appreciated the flashlights that were provided. The pool was cleaned at least twice during our 6 night stay. We thoroughly enjoyed the town of Ojochal. We took Spanish lessons from a tutor who lives in nearby Scarlet Villas, and enjoyed dinner at Citrus and breakfast at the bakery in the little town. We spent time in the beautiful river, and my son fished there. We visited the nearby waterfall, Cascada Pavon, and had a lovely swim. We also enjoyed Uvita, and visiting the Whale's Tale. Our favorite activity was a guided day hike with Enrique at Santa Lucia Falls. We enjoyed hearing the howler monkeys call each morning, and spotted two howlers in a nearby tree. We were visited by lots of birds. We loved taking in the sunset from the pool and swimming in the rain. We loved this beautiful home, and the amazing location!!

The reason I did not give the property 5 stars is due to the poor communication with the hosts. First, on the day of our arrival, at 5:45pm, we were informed that the latest we could check in was 8pm. This was the first time we had been told about the 8pm checkin time. We had flown into San Jose that day, and due to the 8pm time, we were unable to stop and eat or get any food, and our day had begun at 7:30am. This created a very stressful arrival to Costa Rica, racing the clock to try to get checked in. In the end, we arrived at 7:59pm! Now, on the plus side, the host went to the store and got us some eggs and bread, to get us by until food places opened again in the morning. We really appreciated that, and would have called it even, with the lack of communicating the 8pm checkin offset by the kind gesture of getting food for us. However, the communication problems continued. When we arrived at the house, the host did not provide any instructions on the house. He actually said it was the first time he had ever been to the house. He gave us the wi-fi password and left. He alluded to an electronic info booklet, but he didn't actually send the booklet until the next day. Even then, it was mostly about the general area, and not a book on how to work things in the house.

Upon arriving, we saw that the house had a major insect problem. We have stayed at other places in Costa Rica, and understand that part of staying in this beautiful nature, is that there will be some insects. But this was hundreds of insects all over the kitchen counter and a highway of ants walking all over the walls and floors of one of the bedrooms. I reached out to the host that night and asked to have an exterminator come. He said he would get in touch with me the next day to schedule a time for the exterminator to come. He never did and never sent an exterminator in our 6 day stay. There was some bug spray in the laundry room, so we sprayed the kitchen very well. It did kill the bugs. We vacuumed them up and each morning we would vacuum up the dead bugs.

We were looking forward to a hot shower upon arriving after a long day of travel. However, there was no hot water. I contacted the host to ask about the hot water. He said there was solar hot water. The next morning, after the sun came up, we did have hot water. But, I thought it was strange that we would only have hot water when the sun was shining and that it wasn't disclosed in the listing. With such a nice house, I was surprised they didn't have a backup source to heat the water. I sent three separate messages about the hot water, and the host never replied. I sent photos of the fuse box, etc, but no response. In the end, I found a tankless hot water heater under a low shelf in the laundry room behind some beach towels, and found that the fuse was turned off. I turned the fuse on and we had hot water with no problem after that, no thanks to the host. If the host had a little knowledge of the house, we could have had hot showers our first night.

There were other small things, such as the keychain with so many keys that were never explained to us. It was only our next to last day that we realized the remotes were for the gates to enter and exit the community. There were keys to a safe that we never found.

Overall, I would highly recommend this home and the location, but I think the hosts need to familiarize themselves with the house and they need to be more responsive when questions are sent. Renters should not be left to deal with bug problems and try to
