Casita Ballena

Our experience was what we hoped for. The casita, pool, property, and privacy were as advertised. The wildlife was exciting (howler monkeys in the background, many birds and other small animals). We strongly encourage a 4x4 (to get the full Costa Rica experience) as the roads off the main hwy can be rugged at times (but fun). We appreciate the attentiveness of Osa Property Management for any of the questions we had and ensuring our experience was as enjoyable as we hoped for. Pura Vida!

Ein wundervolles Haus, zum wohlfühlen Response: Thank you so much, Daniela, for the lovely 5-star review! We're so glad Casita Ballena gave you that wonderful feeling of comfort and well-being — that is exactly what we strive for with every guest. Thank you for choosing Osa Property Management / Costa Rica Las Villas — we'd love to welcome you back, whether it's to Casita Ballena again or to any of our 70+ properties across Costa Rica!

Response: We're sorry you did not experience a 5-star stay as that is the goal for every Guest we Host. Also, thank you so much, Naz, for the lovely review and for embracing everything that makes Casita Ballena such a unique and special experience! The seclusion, the lush plants, and the incredible wildlife are truly what set this property apart — and we love that even the city kids got to experience the magic of nature, power outages and geckos included! We appreciate your honest notes about the path to the property — the reminder about needing a higher clearance 4x4 vehicle is genuinely helpful advice for future guests planning their visit to Ojochal. We'll also look at what we can do to better prepare guests for the natural quirks of staying in such a beautifully wild setting. Thank you for choosing Osa Property Management / Costa Rica Las Villas — we'd love to welcome you and your family back, whether it's to Casita Ballena again or to any of our 70+ properties across Costa Rica!

We had an amazing stay at this beautiful and very charming little house. The sound inside of birds and all the beautiful butterflies was great. Also, the house itself and in particular the kitchen is very well equipped. We loved our private pool, the bed was very comfortable. We would recommend this place for everybody who looks for a private place which feels in touch with nature without losing any comforts. Also thanks again for our amazing hosts who were super reactive when we had a power cut in the neighbourhood. Response: Thank you so much, Helen, for the beautiful 5-star review! We're so thrilled to hear that Casita Ballena charmed you from start to finish — the birdsong, the butterflies, the private pool, the comfortable bed, and the well-equipped kitchen are all things we love hearing our guests enjoy. We're also glad our team was quick to respond during the neighborhood power cut — being there for our guests in those moments is always a top priority. Your private note also means the world to us — we're so glad it worked out and that it added an extra special chapter to your stay! We truly appreciate your thoughtful mini tips about the flashlight batteries and the A/C remote — those are exactly the kind of details that make a big difference and we are taking care of both right away. Wishing you all the best and thank you for your warmth and grace throughout everything! We enjoyed our stay….very lovely place and environment! Directions to the property by photo were very useful.

Great spot. And value. The property management communicates very well and quickly. Lots of good info. Nice to have your own pool. Fully stocked. Everything worked well. Quiet and private. About 2km from stores, etc so best to have a car (4x4), but in general you need a car in Ojochal anyways as everything is spread out. Recommend. Response: It was an absolute pleasure to Host you! Please keep in touch for any future travel to the region, as we'd love the opportunity to Host you again. Pura Vida! Osa Property Management

Pura Vida! Ojala nos vemos pronto! Beautiful place in the jungle to rest and have some peaceful days in the area. Close to beaches and waterfalls. Beautiful house, the street is in poor conditions, better to visit in a 4x4 or high vehicle

First off we did love the pool! That was the best thing about the property. If you want a view tho, this isn’t the place for you. The shrubs around house can make you feel abit hemmed in. I do know some people would like that tho because it does offer amazing privacy. And getting there, we had difficulty finding the place. If we had thoroughly went thru every picture they sent, would have helped. The pictures definitely made it look better than it was in real.

Zona Muy tranquila y residencial . Cerca de playas, Restaurantes y supermercados. Ideal para descanso y relajación !!!

Great for a quick stay in Ojochal! We really enjoyed relaxing in the pool. The host was very responsive when we had some trouble with the toilet upon our arrival.

Such a cute quaint private oasis. I felt like I was glamping in the jungle. Woke up each morning to the sounds of birds and wildlife. I would recommend anyone staying here!

We enjoyed the private, comfortable and spacious retreat. Excellent lighting, comfortable seating, a well-equipped kitchen, places to spread out, and the pool and jungle landscaping made the indoor/outdoor living area a nice place to hangout. The bedroom was very comfortable also - AC, plenty of space to hang clothes, and cool artwork. Finally, the property management was easy to work with, very responsive and their guidebook was excellent - especially the detailed driving directions.

We had an amazing stay, highly recommend!

Great place, lots of peace, loving Ojochal.

Lugar tranquilo y hermoso

The place was just perfect. The host was super responsive and helpful. 10/10 would return.

What a beautiful home!! This place has everything we needed, plus more! When we walked up and saw the pool, with complete privacy…. We were ready to move in! All of the amenities are here, including a washer and dryer. This home has been built with comfort in mind. The bed is extremely comfortable, and lots of storage space to unpack and relax. You definitely need a 4x4 to get here, but we have found that is pretty much the norm for everywhere in Costa Rica. Absolutely appreciated the host having beach chairs and a cooler there for our use. This has been our 5th place this summer and this is the first time there has been the chairs and cooler. Came in handy! Suggestion would be to put down some shale rock in the area where you park, as we had ALOT of rain, and it was all mud and water. We would 100% recommend this place to anyone coming to the Ojochal/Uvita area, and if were ever to venture back this way, we would absolutely book again 🙂 You made a week of our honeymoon very special.

This place was so amazing to stay in. The best part for us was that the whole time you can hear the bugs, birds, and rain outside which adds to the whole experience. The swimming pool was so nice to swim in and the whole house was great.

Very wonderful and peaceful stay Response: Thank you for the great review Matt! We'd love to Host you again. Please keep in touch. Pura vida! Osa Property Management

The house has everything you need during your travel: washing machine, AC, pool. I recommend a car that is “higher” to reach the house as some rocks on the road are bigger and can scratch the car. The pool was a nice refreshment, only the neighbouring German shepherd dog came once down into the property and started barking at us so we did not feel comfortable on going inside the pool again. I don’t know if the dog is always there.

We have notified the Owner of your report about the bathroom door and the dog. We are very sorry about that. We'd love to Host you again, perhaps at one of our other ~75 properties we manage, while those issues are resolved. Thank you again. Pura Vida! Osa Property Management

Osa property management were amazing. Checked on us regularly and so responsive to text messaging. The house was well equipped with yoga mat, cooler, beach chairs. Pool was so clean and amazing to have after a hot day or first thing in the morning. Kitchen was also clean and well equipped. Although you can’t see the neighbours, you can hear them and the dogs were annoying. Osa was great and offered to try to get a hold of neighbours. AC is only available jn the bedroom; the living and kitchen area are screen closure only, no walls. It can get quite hot in there. The road is really rough but you get used to it after a couple days. I would definitely return here. Great restaurants and excellent grocery store at the entrance of the area and very competitive prices to other grocery shops. Our favorite spots were Playa Hermosa, Cascada El Pavón, and Parque National Marino Ballena is a must see.

Exactly as advertised!! We had a wonderful week and loved the abundance of birds and wildlife enjoyed throughout the stay. An extremely comfortable bed and space with all the amenities that were promised. Great beaches in the area and we felt extremely safe everywhere we traveled. Can't wait for a return visit!!

Great place

The property was well maintained and clean. Came with everything needed for the stay. Very comfortable accommodations! Would highly recommend staying at this property. One issue was difficulty in finding the property. We drove around for an hour in the area trying to find it. Would recommend better lighting and/or signage to avoid this in the future.

Beautiful place! It’s very small but was enough for two people. We used the dipping pool a lot. Host was very responsive. When we arrived the fridge was not working properly, they sent someone to check it/fix it in 10 minutes! Would recommend. Guests from Wisconsin, USA

The place is located on a mountain. It is accessible with a 4x4 vehicle. The cabin appears to be a guest space connected to a neighboring property (via stairs). I recommend avoiding bringing pets, as there are large dogs from the adjacent property that roam freely and became agitated by our pet. I suggest avoiding walking around the area (one day, we had to assist a woman because a German Shepherd dog was blocking her way). The cabin itself is comfortable. Response: Hola Cindy! We are sorry you didn't enjoy the property as much as pervious Guests have (all 5-stars until your review). It is an independent house/property from any other property. We've had plenty of Guests bring their pet without incident - next time please let us know if you are experiencing any issues as you didn't say anything. We wish you well in your future travels!

I’d definitely come back. Great hosts!

This rustic cabin met our needs. There were a few items that are being addressed by OSA Management to make the next guests more comfortable. Very responsive on fixing internet and replacing the TV that was not working in arrival. The location would be difficult to locate at night, suggest arrival during daytime hours. The team was very communicative. There is a sound monitor at the house, it went off frequently during heavy rains… it was a bit annoying as we weren’t at the cabin or was while we were sleeping.

Amazing stay!

I felt right at home. The village, nestled in the heart of the forest, was surrounded by trees and birds. We slept in an extremely quiet place, serenaded by the lovely sound of a river. The place looked just like the pictures everything was in perfect condition, pristinely clean, and the host was incredibly helpful, providing us with plenty of recommendations. I hope to return again and wholeheartedly recommend this place without hesitation.

Perfecto

The location is beautiful! The accommodations were exactly as described & we loved the privacy of our pool! Happy with on-site laundry! We were disappointed in the lack of wildlife - think there weren’t enough trees for monkeys/sloths. Hosts were very responsive to any issues we ran into. Overall a very relaxing visit. Recommend! Response: Thanks for the 5-star review Carol! In regards to seeing a sloth - those are VERY rare and most easily seen while on nature hikes (still rare) or at the Villas Alturas Nature Center. We'd love to Host you again soon! Pura vida! Osa Property Management / Costa Rica Las Villas

The property was very nice and private. The pool was very refreshing and outdoor landscaping was very tropical. Road access was great and easy to navigate. Will definitely stay here again.

This was our first time in Costa Rica and we had an amazing time! We would definitely come back to this location! Response: Thanks Jordan! We are happy you enjoyed your time here in Costa Rica. We absolutely LOVED our stay. The staff was always available if we needed anything and quick to address any issues. Was the perfect place to disconnect and reconnect. Close to town but far enough away to feel at home.
