Honu Kai is Hawaiian for ‘green sea turtle’ – one of nature’s most beautiful and graceful animals, and also a symbol for good luck. The inspiration of the name comes from the amazing wildlife and beautiful ocean that surrounds this home, coupled with the sea turtles that are rescued every year at the nearby aquatic National Parks.
Casa Honu Kai is a three bedroom home nestled on a multi-acre jungle property. Guests will love the wildlife that is seen and heard daily (including howler monkeys, toucans, iguanas, geckos).
The main floor of the home has a large and modern kitchen, living room and two bedrooms. Bedroom #1 is air conditioned and has a queen bed. Bedroom #2 has a bunk bed with a Queen bed on the bottom and single on top, which is great for kids or parents with kids.
Bedroom #3 is located upstairs. This beautiful and spacious suite encompasses the entire second floor. This Suite has its own private bathroom, king size bed, private patio/balcony overlooking the pool and sunset Pacific Ocean views. A perfect place for adults to enjoy some private time.
The open floor plan of the kitchen-living room space flows easily out to the covered patio space, overlooking the pool. This provides a great space all year, whether in the rainy season or in the dry season, to enjoy your morning coffee while listening to the howler monkeys, toucans and scarlet macaws and views of the pool and the ocean.
The pool space also has a ‘rancho’ – an outdoor covered cooking area with grill and counter space, outdoor shower and half-bathroom.
If you are not out on an excursion, tour or at the beach, most of the time will probably be spent by the pool-patio-rancho area.

We absolutely loved our stay here. It was paradise. The minute we arrived my son spotted a sloth up a tree and a group of monkeys in the jungle. He was shaking with excitement! It was so lovely just sitting on the balconies watching all the wildlife and looking at the spectacular views. The house was amazing too. Definitely one of the best places we’ve ever stayed in and we were all sad to leave.

AMAZING Property! Was the primary stop on our visit to Costa Rica. The home felt like our own resort. Backyard is amazing, just like the pictures. First heard a howler monkey on day one. Then saw him climbing the tree behind pool. AMAZING. Saw many more animals including a Coati. We named him Oscar. Friendly guy that might get within 15 feet of you but then runs off. Saw toucan, parrot, many more including an owl. Bring your 4×4 and maybe let Grandma have a downstairs bedroom. The master bed is AMAZING. I did not want to leave. The host is super helpful too. Visit the bakery at the bottom of the hill. Not market well, but super good. We did not try the new American looking bakery next to the old one. We wanted an authentic experience. Bring sun screen. You will burn much quicker than in Denver, Florida, etc. The famous whale tail beach is about 10 minutes away.

This property was very clean and the grounds were well maintained. We loved being semi secluded with so much wildlife around to listen to while relaxing on the multiple decks. While driving up the mountain seemed challenging at first it is well worth it and easy to get used to. The surrounding areas are full of activities and the beaches are beautiful. We would definitely recommend this property.

Absolutely wonderful stay. We loved the setting, we were able to thoroughly relax and enjoy our surroundings. We got good use of the pool, saw a pack of monkeys this morning right outside, and the view and surroundings were wonderful. The host was very responsive and helpful. The house had great provisions - beach towels and mats, great hang out space, great kitchen.
Great jungle home
Love this place so much. The wall to ceiling windows make you feel like you are up in the trees. The pool is private and is a lovely place to relax in the jungle. Love to watch the monkeys, sloth and toucans from the pool and the upper patio. We will be back for sure!

We stayed 8 nights, it is a very beautiful property surrounded by lush jungle. We had tons of wildlife daily. The house its self is beautiful, very clean, lots of amenities and everything you need. The pool is nice and clean. You also have a great view of the ocean. Definitely need a 4x4 to access, the drive up to the property is all up a steep hill on a gravel road. Grocery store right at the bottom of the hill is very convenient, also The bakery is a MUST go to. The only minor issues were no curtain in the bathroom that has a big window, so getting in and out of the shower felt a little exposed (there is another rental at the beginning of the drive way) the gate wasn't working during our stay so it was all manual to open and close, and some of the windows don't lock well and can be pushed open, but easy fixes. All in all highly recommend, you won't be disappointed. it's truly paradise.

I highly recommend this place for a group of 5-6 people with no children under 5 because of steep sides of the house going into the jungle. That being said... It's super private, you see amazing wildlife around you. I would really book this place again and Osa Property mgmt have the house fully decked out with anything you need. You better have a 4x4.

House was perfect for us and the management team went out of their way to assist us! Our review would easily have been a full 5 stars but the lack of generator (with rolling blackouts) had us trapped at the property. Also, perhaps a bidet for the bathrooms would help, given that toilet paper cannot be flushed down the toilet.

The location was beautiful and the house well supplied and comfortable. We did have a 4 x 4 car which was needed with the steep, rough road. There are sharp drop offs on both sides of the house so I would not bring small children here but it was a very peaceful, beautiful retreat.

fantastic location, the driveway is a bit steep but with a 4x4 there will be no issues. the house is very private and has wonderful views of the ocean, monkeys swinging through the trees all around you and lots of beautiful trees and flowers making for a relaxing atmosphere. The house is in a great location offering privacy and convenience - there is a market at the bottom of the hill and lots of places to eat very close.
Osa Property Management was also excellent to deal with. They took great care of us and quickly replied to any questions we had.

We loved our time at this property! If you want to see a lot of animals and be in a total peaceful paradise, here is the place! It’s super natural, has an ocean view & a pool & yoga mat!!😁 We saw dart frogs almost everyday during our week stay 🙂 frogs, tucans, humming birds, monkeys, a huge lizard & big time to my surprise, an oropendola!😃 me encantaaaaa! Amazing Experience at the Best Place
This property is amazing! We had a great experience with the property management company as well - they made sure that everything was working properly and were very pleasant. The pool and the view were top notch. We saw many birds, an Agouti, and the day we were leaving we saw monkeys in the trees near the driveway. The house was very clean and beautiful - it had everything we needed and then some. We had the best experience here - don't hesitate to stay at this place. We went to see the whale's tail at low tide and also went to Nauyaca waterfalls and the rest of the time we just enjoyed the house b/c the kids loved the pool so much.

My friends and I had a great time at this property. All of the beds were comfortable and there was tons of outdoor seating. The house is gated and there is a security system so there’s no need to stress if you’re away from the property. You NEED a 4x4 vehicle as the roads are extremely steep and the turns are sharp. The hosts were responsive to all of my messages. Would visit this property again.

Place was absolutely beautiful, we got to see monkeys every day, both howler and spider monkeys, several bird species, breathtaking views, wonderful pool and outdoor space. We look forward to coming back again soon

Das Haus lag in den Hügeln über Uvita. Sie lag komplett im Grünen mit einer tollen Sicht auf die Natur und das Meer. Man konnte mehrere Tiere von der Unterkunft aus beobachten (Tucan, Affen, Kolibris, Schmetterlinge, Spechte, Greifvögel, Agutis usw), das war wirklich besonders!
Die Unterkunft ist sehr ruhig gelegenen. Man ist komplett für sich.
Das Haus ist wie abgebildet unf super schön.
Die Klimaanlagen sind super leise, echt toll. Und die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, haben uns immer leckere Frühstücke gemacht.
Die Komunikation war sehr einfach und gut. Es wurde eine Chatgruppe gemacht, und sie haben immer schnell und gut geholfen, falls es ein Problem gab.
Der Pool und Außenbereich ist auch wunderbar.
Einfach ein wundervoller Aufenthalt!!!

High above Beautiful Uvita
The house provided everything we needed. The pool with the view was fantastic daily. Kitchen is fully stocked. I would recommend a 4 wheel drive due to it being way up the unpaved hills. Privacy was important to us, and this house fit the bill. We had monkey visits almost daily. We enjoyed a lot of our time just hanging out at the house. Outdoor area perfect for entertaining.

Vacation in the trees
Costa Rica was one of our families best vacations ever, for the following reasons. 1. Location: The house and patio is literally in the jungle amongst the trees. If you want the true CR experience of waking up to Howler Monkeys 50 yards from your patio and spider monkeys 5 feet away in the trees this is the place. The patio and pool are as advertised and definitely the highlight.
2. You 100% need an 4x4 vehicle to get to the house (and to drive in CR). Your first drive up and down from the house gets some getting used to especially the first night. After that though, the drive up and down to the house is easy and without stress.
3. I also have to say that house management company and staff at OSA Management were excellent. We had some flight / travel issues that were not the fault of the property and they were extremely helpful and friendly assisting us.
4. The house itself is nice. I give it a 4 out of 5 only because it is a bit dark and the layout is a bit weird. The house isn't what I would call run down, but it is a bit worn. Lighting in the evening is a dim at best and the kitchen utensils, flatware, plates etc., definitely show the wear and tear of being a vacation rental. None of these items impacted our stay or joy, but I do think the owners should invest a few hundred bucks for updating / replenishing plates, glasses, kitchen knives etc.
Bottom line, none if this is major we would definitely stay at this property again.

This house is amazing! I would highly recommend staying here. There was a lot of intentionality in how the house was set up. Very close to nature with troops of monkeys swinging through daily. The pool was great. Felt very secluded but pretty close to town. We would love to return one day. Definitely 5 stars!!

The property is beautiful and the house was great for 3 couples. We loved hanging out by the pool and outdoor kitchen when we weren't at the beach. Definitely keeping this place in mind for future stays.

Stunning home - perfect Costa Rica representation. We saw two sloths on the property - the biggest male I have ever witnessed and a fast moving female. Saw toucans and a hummingbird moth chrysalis! Beautiful dart frog right on the patio and howler monkeys and white faced monkeys as well as so many birds! We also saw a baby agouti and a large coati. Truly the pool was magnificent and the gazebo was the perfect morning coffee spot. All the grill amenities and pizza oven was such a nice added surprise. The house was stocked with plenty of towels and the laundry room was a good add. I will definitely rent here again - do keep in mind that the road is very challenging but the 4x4 managed it well even during the rain. Just take it slow. Did I mention the beautiful landscaping? Thanks for a memorable time.

This home was perfect for our family! We love to have a home base to cook and relax on rainy days and this home made us feel like we had a private bit of paradise to return to.
We enjoyed seeing the monkeys playing in the nearby trees, the various lizards visiting the fountain and pool, and birdwatching from the porch.

We had a wonderful time at this place! The view is amazing and everything was very clean. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed and things we didn't even know we'd need! There was amble space outside for the four of us to relax. As other reviewed have said, the road to the place is quite steep. However, we managed just fine in our vehicle. If we had any issues, our host was quick to respond and help out with sightseeing recommendations! We would highly recommend staying at this place!

The pictures of this place do it no justice. It’s literally the most gorgeous property and view I have ever booked. Communication was great and they send you a link of what kinds of restaurants and experiences you may want to do! We saw monkeys while we swam and a few other indigenous creatures of the rainforest. If you are going to rent a car, MAKE SURE ITS A 4x4. They do tell you that on their amentities page but wish they would have really specified further. The roads going up to the property can be extremely difficult if you do not have a 4x4 vehicle. Other than that, this was the perfect place for vacation.

This house was exactly like the pictures, great view from the mountain top, pool is clean, in the middle of a jungly property with lots of animal sounds. Communication was flawless and service was attentive. Access to the property requires a 4WD or at least a big car. Master bedroom was very comfortable, the two bedrooms slightly less comfortable and the bathroom they share is not very convenient as one of the bedrooms has direct access to it.
